I make leather pieces slowly, by hand, one at a time.

I work this way because I know I can control the quality of the finished piece.  Every cut, every stitch, every edge is done by hand and with attention to detail.  There are no patterns I repeat exactly, and no shortcuts I rely on.  Each piece becomes what it becomes through the process of making it.

The act of making is important to me.  It requires patience, presence, and care; qualities I try to build into the work itself.  I choose materials meant to last, to age well, and to be repaired rather than replaced.  I hope the person who uses one of my pieces feels that intention over time.  

The dozen or so pieces I make in a year are about making something carefully and honestly and offering it to someone who values that way of creating. 

I hope that each of my pieces finds a home where it is loved, valued, and used for a lifetime.
